ADA Buildout 2011
Saucy Squares Dance Club, Inc., is required by our lease with the City of Sebastopol to make Wischemann Hall compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). After a study by a group that analyzes buildings for ADA issues, we have found that there are two parts to making the building ADA-compliant:
- rebuilding the outside ramp to be wider, and at the correct incline
- enlarging both bathrooms to accommodate wheelchairs
In 2010 we hired an architect who drew up building plans that would address these issues.
We have started organizing community fundraisers, and are in the middle of trying to get a handle on how much these changes will cost to implement. We have formed two committees, a Building Committee, whose job it will be to take the plans drawn up by the architect and come up with estimates of how much construction costs will be, and a Fund Raising Committee who will take the information of the cost of construction and try to raise that amount so that we can proceed.
